The Origin- Ch. 6

Weeks had pasted and they tiny rogue pride had gotten used to being on their own. Safia had gotten better but she was still very weak and could barely hunt for the four, but she always made sure the cubs were fed enough. They had made their own home out of a hollow tree Safia had dug out enough for the cubs to fit in. But one day, would change their lives forever.

"I'm going hunting kids, stay close to the tree alright?" Safia announced and made her way towards the herds in the distance. Her paw was still hurting, maybe infected, and she was hoping for an older one or maybe find an already dead one. She was in no shape to be hunting a full grown zebra or wildabeast.

As soon as she had left, the cubs came out and started they're free play time. The ran around, played games, and practiced play fighting. Amara had started to cheer up more, and have fun again.

"I have an idea! Let's play hide and seek! Safia is gone so we'll hide where ever we want!" Amara stated. "Amara, Safia told us to stay close to the tree. It's to dangerous, you don't know whats out there." Onyeka argued. "Yeah she's right." Mheetu agreed.

"You guys are so boring!" Amara yelled and ran off into the grass. "No Amara wait!" Onyeka called after her. "Try and find me! You'll see there's nothing to worry about!" she yelled back, and ran off laughing. "Come on Mheetu! We have to find her before someone else does!" Onkeya said and her and Mheetu ran after her.

Amara ran around for a while, getting further and further from the tree. Suddenly, I rustle in the grass made her stop. "Huh? What was that? Is someone there?" she asked aloud.

Then a young cub stepped out of the grass in front of her. He was shades of brown colors, a dark mane tuft, and maroon eyes. He looked about the same age as Amara herself. "Huh?!" he gasped. "Wah!" Amara jumped, startled. "Oh... it's only another cub."

"Who... who are you?" the male cub asked. "My name is Amara. Who are you?" she asked smiling. "I'm Masozi, prince of the Grasslands pride. I've never seen you before, where did you come from?" he asked. "My brother, sister, cousin, and I came from the Pridelands, we're rogues now." she said sadly. "Oh.. You mean you don't have a prid-?" Masozi began to say but was interrupted by another voice.

"AMARA!" Onyeka yelled, running up behind her. "Onyeka?" Amara said surprised. "What are you doing here with this cub? We need to go now! You don't know who his parents are, they could be dangerous!!" She exclaimed. "You're not my mother Onya!" Amara argued. Onyeka only huffed at her comment.

"That's alright Amara.. I need to get home anyways before my parents have a fit. It was nice meeting you though." Masozi said, smiling. Amara smiled as well. "It was nice meeting you too! Maybe we'll see each other again some day." she said. "Yeah!" Masozi said. "Buy Amara!"

"Bye Ozi!" she said and followed her siblings back to the tree. "He wasn't even dangerous Onya. I try to make a friend and you just have to be all jealous."

"I'm not jealous Amara. I'm only cautious. I think you tend to forget we're out on our own and need to be more careful of strangers." Onyeka argued with her sister. "Just stop acting like my mother ok? I'm not looking for a new one and I never will. I'm my own lioness now." Amara said. Onyeka only sighed and kept walking.

When Masozi got back to his pride, he told his sister, Suzanna, all about the new cubs. But his sister always over reacted, since she wanted to be queen, and not her brother. She always tried to get their father, King Kaffir, to see she would be a better queen. "Daddy!" she yelled to their father.

"Yes Suzanna? What is it?" he said with a smile. "Ozi was with some lion cubs today! They're rogues in our land and he wasn't going to tell you! But I'm a good princess! I'd tell you everything thing daddy!" she exclaimed proudly. "Is this true Masozi?" Kaffir asked, looking at Masozi. "Yes father..." he sighed. Suzanna rolled her eyes at her brother and continued. "Rogues in our land could be very dangerous! He's a shame for not being the responsible prince and telling the king right away! Right daddy?"

"Do you ever stop?" Masozi uttered. Kaffir chuckled. "Suzanna please go find you're mother for me? Tell her I need to see her at once. I'll speak with Masozi while you're gone." he asked. "Ok daddy!" she smiled and ran off to get their mother.

Kaffir began to speak, Ozi's ears drooped. "Tell me about the cubs you saw today." he asked. "Well... there were three of them. Two female and one male. One female wanted to be my friend though. Her name is Amara and I like her." he said with a smile. "She told me they came from the Pridelands with her two siblings and cousin." He looked up at his dad, who was thinking. "Please don't hurt them dad! It's only the four of them." he pleaded. Kaffir smiled at his son. "I believe you Ozi." he looked up and saw his mate coming. "Go find your sister and play for a while. I'm going to speak to your mother for a while."

Masozi nodded and walked away, his mother nuzzling him as they walked past each other. She sat down next to him. "You wanted to see me?" she asked. He smiled and nuzzled her. "There are some cubs in our lands all alone. Three cubs about Ozi's age and a mentioned cousin. I'm not sure how old this cousin is or if he or she is male or female, but I'd like you to go find them tomorrow morning and do what you need to if they are a danger to our pride understand?" he asked. She smiled and nodded. "Ok love." she licked his cheek and walked away. "Thank you." he said. Staying at his spot watching the sun set.
